The Creative Ones

thecreativeones

This month of August has been a whirlwind. In the midst of having to say goodbye to summer, and having to prepare for the new semester and all, the month flew by( I realize I keep saying this…all the time. But seriously time flies nowadays and it is more than a-little-bit scary. It is SCARY!). Point is I have found some really amazing and inspirational blogs that I would like to share.

I am an avid reader of The Red Thread blog and have been inspired a lot.  The DIY projects and the inspirational people Lisa features are really way beyond great. It is refreshing and wonderful to get a peek into the lives of creatives all over the world and feel a wave of connectedness. There is so much inspiration in the world and the fact that the web has made things easier, we can get inspiration as much as we can anytime we want.

Just because there is inspiration at every corner does not mean we should take it for granted. Sites like Pinterest, Craftgawker, Instagram and many more are there to inspire us to let out our creative sides and make this world a better place to live, I believe.

So why not share the love and encourage each other in whatever we do because well time is flying and there is no room for regrets.

This semester, I am taking a course called Entrepreneurship Development and I have confidence that it will be a fun course. It is basically about motivating us students to go for our dreams, to be as creative as we can in the business world. And I think it’s what we need to really make a difference (think conquering the world. Ha!).

Have a great weekend and let out your creative self.

Crocheting So Far

crocheting

I have known crocheting ever since I was a younger girl (does that make sense?!). My mom was is an expert…at least I think so. It was until I was over ten years that I became interested in crocheting myself. I learned from the great mom.

This past summer I talked about improving my crocheting skill and learning new patterns. And I actually did learn a lot. There is something about crocheting that is so therapeutic. I is a calming activity and gives a lot of time for  thinking(and daydreaming ha!). I have discovered that it is becoming a hobby. I think the ideal way to crochet is  with a cup of tea for the cold weather or lemonade for the summer and good music in the background.

What do you like doing lately?

Creamy Potato Soup

Image

I have a confession. I am not much of a potato eater. Yep not at all. Unless…unless you add milk, I’m hooked. I know you must be thinking ‘gross’ but hey there are way grosser things than this. Yes? No?

And since potatoes + milk are my thing, creamy potato soup is ideal. I thought I should share a recipe.

Ingredients

4 small potatoes

1 C Milk

1 small onion chopped

1 Clove garlic chopped

1 Small carrot chopped

1 Small green paper chopped

1/2 tsp ginger

1/2 tsp salt

1 tbsp cooking oil

Directions:

  • Peel and boil the potatoes till soft to the touch. let cool
  • In a blender, combine the potatoes, milk and salt. Blend till pureed
  • In a pot, fry the garlic, onion, carrot, green paper in cooking oil and season with ginger. Saute for two minutes.
  • Add the potato puree
  • Keep stirring till al the flavors have fully blended.
  • You may want to add more water in case the soup is too thick for your liking
  • Let the soup simmer for 7 minutes. Allow time to cool
  • Serve warm
  • Garnish with carrot sticks and roasted sesame seeds

Now doesn’t that sound and taste yum?!
