Love’s Long Journey

This week in the midst of preparing myself for exams, I  sneaked in  some movies(lol procrastination) and ended up watching  6 movies of the Love Comes Softly series. They are great(seriously) and they have a very calming feel about them and timeless too. I most especially love the third movie, Love’s Long Journey and the more I think about it, the more I realize that there are still good people in this world, people so filled with love, they would do anything  for their loved ones. And speaking of loved ones, I found this truly inspiring and amazing story on the web about a man’s long journey to look for and be with his fiancee. This definitely worth reading:

The Story Of One Man’s Journey From Canada To The Storm-Ravaged Philippines To Find His Fiancée

Houssam Hammoudi traveled across the world in search of his fiancée, Grace.posted on November 19, 2013 at 3:28pm EST

Grace was in Ormoc, a city in Philippines, when the area was slammed by Super Typhoon Haiyan.

After the storm, Houssam could not get any information about Grace. Worried about her condition, Houssam left his home in Canada, traveled to an island near Ormoc, and then took a ferry from there.

Houssam wrote on his blog that finding Grace was incredibly lucky and now she’s fighting for her life:

“I don’t know until now how I made it out of Ormoc with her, I still cannot believe it. I realized that no matter what I could do, nothing would have prepared me for this, it was more like special forces situation. If I waited only few days, she could lose her leg. In regards to my health, I am in good health, with less stress now but my muscles hurt:)

Thank you all for everything you did for me and hope that I will not get surprises in the near future.”

I think this is a great example of living out loud and having selfless and beautiful love. I will continue to pray for the dear Philippines and for Grace.

To Get it Together Isnt Easy

Image

“Stop trying to “get it together.” The biggest lie we’re told when we’re growing up is that soon as we’re adults, as soon as we’re in college, finish college, get that job, have that steady income, find that someone special, “find ourselves,” find that perfect house, get that retirement fund, have those children, everything will fall into place. Here’s a secret: it won’t. Every new development in your life, good or bad, big or small, will come with its own very special set of challenges. The sooner you accept that, the better off you’ll be. But the myth is perpetuated throughout life, perhaps now more than ever with happy status updates on Facebook and blushing bride/happy multi-tasking mommy blog posts. What these success stories don’t tell you is what is going on behind closed doors. They don’t tell you that your friend who is so over the moon with her new baby had to apply for food stamps. They don’t tell you that your fantastic, involved professor struggles with depression. They don’t tell you that your happily married friend still has nightmares about her abusive ex. They don’t tell you the cousin who just got that jealousy-inducing job opportunity is thinking of breaking up with his boyfriend of 10 years. What closely interacting with people from all backgrounds on the Internet for over a decade has taught me is that no one “has it together” in the way we think they do. So stop trying to have that as your goal, because you are just setting yourself up for massive failure.”

So I read this quote here last week , and it summed up all that I wanted to say in this post(seriously I can’t say anymore)

I just want to know what your say in this is(conversation starter)?
